June Disability Committee Meeting

Non-confidential materials distributed with the agenda packet and/or related to an item on this agenda submitted to SCERA after distribution of the agenda packet are available for public inspection at location noted above during normal business hours.

The public may address the Disability Committee regarding any non-executive session agenda items during the Committee's consideration of the item.  The Committee maintains and reserves the right to take action on any item agendized for discussion.

Public Comment Using Zoom: Members of the public who join the Zoom meeting, either online or by calling in, will be able to provide live public comment for each agenda item, after the Committee and staff have provided their comments. To provide public comment during the meeting, click or tap the “Reactions” button on the zoom meeting screen and select “Raise Hand” button. A hand icon will appear next to the attendee’s name, indicating to the host that a comment is intended.

Committee members are Trustees Neil Baker, Amos Eaton, Jared Gonce, John Hadzess, and Bob Williamson.

I.  MINUTES APPROVAL

Disability Committee Meeting Minutes – May 21, 2026

Recommendation: Approve the May 21, 2026, Disability Committee Meeting Minutes.

The Disability Committee will move into Executive Session and close the meeting to all attendees who are not necessary for the determination of a disability retirement or consideration of a public employee performance evaluation. Those in person attendees will physically exit the Board room and attendees on Zoom will be placed in a waiting room, with the Board room camera and microphone turned off so Zoom attendees will neither hear nor see the meeting. All in person and Zoom attendees will be re-admitted to the meeting when the Committee returns to open session.

II.  EXECUTIVE SESSION

Meeting closed pursuant to Government Code section 54957(b) to consider the employment status and evaluation of performance of a SCERA member or members as concerns eligibility for disability retirement or reinstatement to active membership.

A.  Applications for Committee Action:

1.  DOMINIC TAURIAN, Correctional Sergeant, filed 11/06/2025, for a service-connected disability retirement.

B.  Discussion:

1.  Review the pending disability applications on the June 2026 Disability Report.

The Disability Committee will move out of Executive Session and reopen the meeting to all Zoom attendees who were locked out during the closed session period.

III.  EXECUTIVE SESSION REPORT OUT – OPEN SESSION

A report will be given to the public on the Disability Committee’s recommendations for the above items.

IV.  GENERAL DISCUSSION MATTERS

Opportunity to advise the Disability Committee of new matters and for Committee members to ask questions for clarification, provide information to staff, request staff to report back on a matter, or to direct staff to place a matter on a subsequent agenda.

V.  PUBLIC COMMENT

Opportunity for public comment on non-agenda items within the jurisdiction of the Disability Committee.

VI.  NOTICE OF NEXT MEETING

Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in the SCERA Board Room located at 433 Aviation Boulevard, Suite 100 in Santa Rosa, CA, and facilitated through Zoom.
